What is Facebook?

Facebook is a social networking site with over 900 million users. You must create a profile in order to add friends, message, and receive notifications. Over the past few years the site has expanded from being primarily used for college students to connect to being used by everyone all around the world! This is a great way to reach and connect to your customers by utilizing a company profile page.

Company Page

A Facebook company page is a simple and free way for businesses to connect and engage with customers. This differs from a regular Facebook profile because it represents an organization, business or celebrity to maintain a professional presence on Facebook. However, you need to make a personal profile page in order to create a company page. Another plus to having a company page is that the number of likes is unlimited; unlike regular Facebook profiles that are limited to 5,000 friends. The sky is the limit for your company reach!

Your Settings

Under your settings there are only two controls: posting preferences and email notification. These may seem very simple or easy to overlook; but if you aren’t careful your email will be full of Facebook notifications. The posting preferences helps you to control what name will appear on the page when you write something. It can either write is as yourself or the company.

Manage Permissions

Here is where you can control who can see your page. This is also where you can control who can post on your wall as well as who can tag your company in pictures. You can also set an age restriction of who is able to view your company page as well as control the visibility of posts on your wall.

Basic Information

This is the part of your page that holds all of your important company information. Here you can input your industry, your company name that will appear, a brief description, your company mission statement, contact information, awards as well as links to your other sites. An added bonus is you can also include your company address and Bing will load a map onto your profile of your location.

Pictures

Profile: This is the picture that will appear when people search for your company

name, and it also appears in the top corner of your profile page. This would be a

great place to put your company logo.

Cover Photo: This is placed across the top and is the first thing people will see on

your page. You can also change either of these pictures as often as you

would like. This is basically ad space to show off what your company does, so

make it a good image! You are able to be creative here so think outside the box!
