Facebook’s timeline was the first thing to change, now they have continued forth with these changes to change the newsfeed as well. They are going for more of an uncluttered look to feature more than just text stories. Facebook took trends from Instagram to incorporate big photos and a clean, navigable design that is consistent across all devices.
More Options
Where you can sort the feeds of your news feeds has also changed. People now have access to different types of feeds that they can sort by and chose what is being displayed. They can be sorted by: all friends, close friends, music, photos, games, and groups they follow. There is also a chronological view now available as a sorting option as well.
Consistency
Finally, everything on Facebook will look the same across all devices! The new redesign was inspired by mobile, focusing on the most basic design. Facebook added a new sidebar and a lot more white space to display the stories on. They knew more and more users are accessing Facebook from mobile, which is why they focused on a more consistent look across all platforms.
The news feed is slowly rolling out, but you can request the new look if you want it sooner rather than later.
