I’ll be honest with you, blogging isn’t fun nor an easy thing to do. It’s going to take: work, time, effort, thought, commitment…sound like anything else you do in life? Here’s the catch, don’t let any of those things scare you away or stop you! Writing a blog will be worth turning readers into customers and connecting with both of them.
Now I’m sure you have a ton of questions floating around your head. It made the most sense to categorize them in everyone’s favorite six question words: who, what, where, when, why and how.
WHO is even reading it?
This is a very good question. Well, it depends where you share your blog link, who accesses your blog site, where your blog is posted etc. You want a lot of people to read your blog, but more importantly the right people. You can chose how you want to reach these people, and the next few questions might help answer that.
WHAT do I even talk about?
You! Sounds crazy, but a blog is all about your company! You can talk about things going on, new products/services, new employees, anything really. If nothing is going on within your company you can give helpful tips about your industry or report on industry news. If people search for your company name when looking for industry news, that is a good sign.
WHEN should I come out with new posts?
You can have a schedule of how frequently you post blogs, or you can post when needed. Just be sure not to forget about the fact that you have a blog. You want to at least post something once or twice a month at the minimum. If you don’t know what to write about, see what your competitors are talking about or ask your readers what they want to learn more about. The more regular you post, the better your blog is and the more readers you will have.
WHY do I even need a blog?
A blog is a great way to connect to your customers and to let them know what is going on. It’s a way to talk about company successes, projects, products, services, etc. to stand out from your competitors. Think of it as a company newspaper online that anyone can read. Social media sites should be an extension of your company blog, but it should never replace it.
HOW will they hear about my new posts?
However you would like them to. You can post links on your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts that you posted a new blog. You could also send out an email with a short version of your blog and a link provided if they would like to read more. If you keep your blog on your company website, anyone that comes across your site will see your blog and vice versa.
